The ins and outs of ventilation 1. Basic principles

چکیده
Broadly speaking, patients that have difficulty ventilating and/or difficulty oxygenating could benefit from mechanical ventilation. Hypoventilation for the purposes of this article is defined as partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) in arterial blood that is greater than 60 mmHg. Oxygenation difficulties may exist when the partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) in arterial blood falls below 60 mmHg on room air, and especially if it remains low despite oxygen supplementation. Under anaesthesia with volatile agents or injectable agents (especially if potent opioids such as fentanyl or remifentanil are administered by infusion), hypoventilation occurs when spontaneous breathing becomes excessively depressed. In addition, the administration of neuromuscular blockers will abolish the patient’s ability to breathe spontaneously. In the intensive care setting, mechanical ventilation of the lungs may be required to support patients with a variety of conditions (eg, pulmonary parenchymal diseases such as acute respiratory distress syndrome or E Q U IP M E N T

GPS/INS Integration for Vehicle Navigation based on INS Error Analysis in Kalman Filtering
The Global Positioning System (GPS) and an Inertial Navigation System (INS) are two basic navigation systems. Due to their complementary characters in many aspects, a GPS/INS integrated navigation system has been a hot research topic in the recent decade. The Micro Electrical Mechanical Sensors (MEMS) successfully solved the problems of price, size and weight with the traditional INS. Therefore...
متن کاملPricing Buy-ins and Buy-outs
Pension buy-ins and buy-outs have become an important aspect of managing pension risk in recent years. As a step toward understanding these pension de-risking instruments, we develop models for pricing investment risk and longevity risk embedded in pension buy-ins and buy-outs. We also bring a contingent-claims framework to price credit risk of buy-in bulk annuities. Overall, our model can be u...
متن کاملThe association between NFKB1 -94ATTG ins/del and NFKB1A -826C/T genetic variations and coronary artery disease risk
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is considered as a chronic inflammatory disease initiated from early childhood. Nuclear factor κB (NF κB) and κB1A (NF κB1A) are the key regulators of inflammatory responses. The NFKB1 -94ATTG ins/del and NFKB1A -826C/T polymorphisms may contribute to the development of CAD. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association of these polymorphisms wit...
متن کاملProviding Design Strategies for Ventilation System in Treatment Environments (Proposed Sample: Hybrid Ventilation System in Hospitals)
One of basic principles in designing treatment environments is to design air conditioning/ventilation system proportionate to environment. Essentially, appropriate air conditioner in treatment spaces must bear the following capabilities: providing healthy and clean air, reducing the concentration of pollutants produced in the atmosphere, emission of pollutants and impeding their spread in exter...
متن کاملAnalyzing WGBS with the bsseq package
This document discusses the ins and outs of an analysis of a whole-genome shotgun bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) dataset, using the BSmooth algorithm, which was first used in [1] and more formally presented and evaluated in [2]. The intention with the document is to focus on analysis-related tasks and questions. Basic usage of the bsseq package is covered in “The bsseq user’s guide”. It may be use...
